“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” – 1 Peter 2:2-3 NIV
Q. Hans who are some of the people receiving this letter?
– Francois, the people in Asia who was persecuted at the time.
Q. In what way are you like a newborn baby Hans?
– Everything is new in God’s Kingdom for me.
– There are still things I need to learn.
– I am going to make stupid mistakes.
“Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” – 1 Peter 3:13-18 NIV
Q. Does it seem that Peter thought the newborn babies should wait a while before sharing their faith you think?
– No.
– I must always be prepared to give an answer.
- With Gentleness.
- With Respect.
- Keeping a clear Conscience.
– People need to be convicted by my good behaviour.
Q. So Hans as a newborn what do you have to share with others?
– My testimony about how God worked in my life.
- How me revering Him changed me.
- Remembering that my Savior is also my Lord.
– What my hopes are.
– What my sufferings are.
– What good things I have been doing.
– The good I am are eager to do.
– Share about doing what is right.
– I should not:
- Fear their threats.
- Be frightened.
So what are some practicals we can apply Hans?
Q. Hans why don’t you pray for us this morning
Good morning Father. Thank you for the new day!!! It is just amaizing what Francois and I learn from babies and being like them. The more I drink off the Lord the quicker I will grow up in my salvation. I do know that I need to be able to give an answer of the hope that I have in you Jesus because that is my faith. So Lord in you there is so many new things I can hope for: That Jesus died for my sins first and foremost! That Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. That I repented and that my baptism was for the forgiveness of my sin and I received the Holy Spirit, just to name a few! I am so excited to walk this new Journey with you my Lord. I know it will not be easy, but definately worthwhile! Amen.
