0. Review of Yesterdays study:

John what can you remember of yesterday’s study?

  • What is Paul’s response to each of the popular proverbs?
  • Why must discipline make the decision to “not be mastered by anything”? What will be the result if we do not?
  •  What in your life right now is “mastering you” or threatens to “master you”?

1. The Bible Scriptures:

– Let’s see what the Bible has to say about discipline John:

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this

2. Close

John man this is an intense study. If I going to take this to heart it will change my effectiveness for God in a big way.

  • I totally agree Francois
–  John can you please close us out in a prayer?
  • My pleasure, Francois.
  • Good Morning Father.
  • Such a great new day to praise your Holy name.
  • What an amaizing analogy to immitate a soldier, athlete and farmer spiritually.
  •  Lord help me to be a soldier by being a warrior, we all like. The hero who saves the day and spiritually help save people.
  • Lord I can still remember practising long distance running at school. There is endurance and just keep going although your body feel like it wants to give up. Same way I need to have endurance as a disciple and keep the end goal in mind which is eternal life in heaven although we walk with God every day.
  • Lord I love visiting farms. My grandfather was a farmer so farming is very close to home with my dad farming when he retired. A saying I can remember Father is that my dad used to say he kept farming closer and closer to home.
  • Farms is exiting Dad because we used drive motorbikes and tractors starting the diesel generator. Sit on the hill and pray overlooking the farm.
  • If I think of farms it is about things growing dad and so things need to grow in my life spiritually, my relationship with my wife, children, friends, family and my spiritual family as well. Also grow in my discipleship, loving and helping people to grow closer to God and in the end become disciples, because Jesus you called us to make disciple of all nations.
  • Lord help me to immitate the soldier, athlete and farmer.
  • Amen.
