9.6. Pray like This

"It is true that comes from the heart can move mountains, it increases your faith, and brings you closer to God." - Rebecca Small

If you teach someone something, you give them instructions so that they know about it or how to do it as they speak to God in order to give thanks or to ask for help.

0. Review of Yesterdays study:

– Hans what can you remember of yesterday’s study?

  • We are creatures of habit, so if we create a set time habit that becomes our character.
  • If prayer is already set out in your schedule it will happen because you planned it. That is if your life is disciplined.
  • I will be able to focus and not be distracted.

1. The Bible Scriptures:

The disciples were taught by Jesus to pray like:

– Let’s see what the Bible has to say about what prayer should be like Hans:

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Mat 6:7-13

  • Adoration
  • Confession.
  • Thankfulness.
  • Supplication.
“Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.”

  • Francois mostly thankfulness and suppication.
  • Adoration & Confession.

Hans many times our prayers are concentrated on asking for certain needs to be met.

Jesus teaches us to first of all focus on God and give him the honor and praise He deserves.

"It is true that comes from the heart can move mountains, it increases your faith, and brings you closer to God."

  • I think God is the hardest person we can try to encapsulate.
  • We can normally relate to people but God is just on another level.
  • So to Answer your question yes I do find it hard.
  • It take me actively writing down God’s characteristics and praying around that.
  • What helps me as well is to look at God’s different names as depicted in the Bible.
  • Another thing that helps is to work through God’s promises to see what type of relationship he wants for us.

Psalm 24

Of David. A psalm.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.[a]

They will receive blessing from the Lord
and vindication from God their Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, God of Jacob.[b][c]

Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
