Psalm 105-106

“Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,
“Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true.
The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants.
He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. They asked, and he brought them quail; he fed them well with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a river in the desert. For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for— that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.” – Psalm‬ ‭105:1-3, 8, 12, 15, 19, 24-25, 39-45‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold. In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.
They exchanged their glorious God for an image of a bull, which eats grass. They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt,
So he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD.
They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked.
By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them; for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses’ lips. They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.
They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.
He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented. He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.” – Psalm‬ ‭106:1, 13-15, 20-21, 23-25, 28, 30, 32-37, 39, 41-46‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Pray for Today

Morning Father. It is good to praise You early in the morning. It is also good to remember how good you are to Your people. You truly care for us, feed us, clothe us and listen to us. Father You will always love us, even disciple us to get back to You when we have gone astray. May our hearts be drawn towards You and not towards sin. We exchange You for images and possessions.

Help me to stand in the breach for our South Africans. So many of us are godless or just religious which is just idol worship, we do not worship the real God but has made up a god that fulfills our needs, wants and that suit us. I pray that we might be the ones who always do what is right. I am reading a book about thinking, may our thoughts please you and brings us closer to live in Your Glory which You planned for us. Amen
