Verse for Today:
Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. – Luk 23:50-52
The waiting game sometimes is agonizing. Whether it is for your wife to get ready or Christmas / holidays that you are looking forward to. It really test your patience and resolve.
It is interesting that God sees patience as love. (1Cor 13:4) Sometimes we ask things of God and God either answers it immediately or we have to wait, the latter normally applies. Do we really trust God that he has our best interest at heart? He says He knew us before we were born, He saw our unformed body. (Ps 139:16-18) Do Ireally believe He is a loving God? The waiting game; test that faith.
I think Joseph was also waiting in anticipation. It says that he was a good and upright man who was not a people pleaser but stood by his principles.
Can you be characterized as someone who does what is right no matter the circumstances?
Well John the baptist said the kingdom is near, Jesus said the same thing. The kingdom did not come when Jesus arrived on the scene. Now Jesus has died and the kingdom is not here yet? Mmmmm.
Clue no. 20 – Joseph of Arimathea was still waiting for the Kingdom when Jesus died.
Prayer for Today:
Lord I know you have my best spiritual interests at heart, not my comfort necessarily otherwise you would not say that I have to deny myself. Waiting in your books is love because love is patient. Help me to entrust myself to you and not look at the circumstances. Lord don’t let my pain make to stop believe in you. Amen.
