A recent LifeWay Research study found only 45 percent of those who regularly attend church read the Bible more than once a week. Over 40 percent of the people attending read their Bible occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. Almost 1 in 5 churchgoers say they never read the Bible—essentially the same number who read it every day.

“Man does not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). 

In other words, if we want to live life to the fullest, as God intended, we must listen to and heed God’s written Word.

““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” – Matthew‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I think Jesus is my Lord and you most probably do as well, but how can we make sure we enter the kingdom of heaven ?

It is the one who do God’s will. Simple hey !!! Not so fast, I know very intelligent people that are scholars that don’t know their bible. A question comes to mind: How can you do God’s will if you don’t know what it is, which comes from studying the Word ?

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”” – ‭‭John‬ ‭14:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If Jesus is the Way, the Truth and The Life should we not get to know Him. So getting to know Jesus we get to know God the Father. 

What is our natural state of being if we don’t read our Bible’s ?

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.” – ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If we do not know God’s Word and how to be obedient we follow the ways of the world. 

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So it is really about righteousness!!! To be in a right relationship with God.

God want us to be equipped by the Bible to do lead a great life with good works that brings Him the glory.
