Have you ever wanted to go on holiday to that favourite city? Like London, Paris, Orlando (Florida) or Los Angeles (Hollywood). You were quite excited and could not wait. Well today we have something of the sort.

The Jews were waiting for the coming of the kingdom for millenia’s.

Let’s first look at the clue / prophesy:

Verse for Today:

Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. – Is 2:3

The clue / prophesy said that the Kingdom will start in Jerusalem.

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. – Acts 2:5

So here in verse one to four the Holy Spirit is poured out and we know that the Kingdom has come when that happens.

We know that the lasts days was when Jesus and the Kingdom came according to our previos clue / prophesy.

Now they are in Jerusalem, which was also predicted where the Kingdom will come.

44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” – Luk 24:44-49

Here Jesus reminds the disciples what He has preached earlier. He also direct them to what the signs was; that the Kingdom will come; beginning at Jerusalem. So when you read the heading it is after Jesus was crusified and risen from the dead. The Kingdom clearly did not yet come when Jesus died on the cross and has risen to life. But to understand this scripture we have to understand the significance of the time period that Jesus was saying this clue / prophesy.

Jesus here was speaking in the time period after He was crucified and before He assended into heaven. This has bearance on the next scripture.

In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” – Acts 1:1-5

Here it was a period of fourty days when He talked on??? No kidding, the Kingdom of God.

And what did He say in the previous passage??? In verse 46 He told us that He had to suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, that happen at this point when He was talking to them.

Next He said that repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached, this has not happened yet at this point. It was another clue about the coming of the Kingdom.

Jesus also said it will start in Jerusalem, fulfilling what the clue / prophesy said.

Then in verse 49 He prophesied that they will be clothed with power from on high; which we know was the Holy Spirit and has happened at this point in verse 4.

In verse 5, Jesus also prophesied that they will be baptised by the Holy Spirit, that happened here.

I hope you get the just of it. A lot of point forward and going back to see what was prophesied.

Prayer for Today:

Lord you predicted and Isaish prophesied that the Kingdom will start in Jerusalem, which it did. There is now so many clues / prophesies that has come true that it is overwhelming and amazing at the same time. When I start putting things together it all makes sense. It is like planning my wedding; and then on the day it all starts coming together. You normally are excited and stressed at the same time, real mixed emotions. Help me to be exited about your kingdom the way you want me to be, because then I understand the reality of it. Amen.
