“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” – Psalm‬ ‭119:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How often do I memorize scripture ?

How deep is my conviction about not sinning against God ?

I think it is a matter of rather filling your heart with God than worldliness which is by default in our hearts.

How righteous or godly do I really want to be ?

So what is sin ?

Sin is missing the mark, meaning God has a life planned for us to live holy but we keep on derailing it.

Let’s identify sin:

“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” – Galatians‬ ‭5:19-21

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” – 2 Timothy‬ ‭3:1-5‬ ‭NIV‬

“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”” – Revelation‬ ‭21:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let us identify righteousness:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” -Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Which one do you want, sin or righteousness ?
