Growing up me and my brothers love watching movies like; Zorro and the Roman empire. We would then make the weapons or apparel to fit the theme that we watch lately. We would always play in the back yard and make fire and “braai” some meat. One night we were trying to start a fire, so I threw some petrol on it. As I threw on the petrol, it splashed on my brother and he was on fire. So the easiest way to put it out was he rolled in the dirt. Luckily he came away unscathed but with a big scare.
I have never seen a lake of burning sulfur, that must be really intense. To spend eternity there is unimaginable. The closest I can imagine is life imprisonment with no visitation rights.
Now the sin that does not seem so serious is lying. We say: “I just told a little white lie” and think nothing of it. With God it hardcore because He will send you to hell because of it. So should we not treat it with the same urgency and seriousness that God assigns to it.
The bottom line is we have sinned and needs forgiveness. Will we go to Jesus to be reconciled and go to heaven? Or will we try our luck and see if we can escape the fires of hell?
Prayer for Today:
Lord I am guilty if I look at this sin list. I know I cannot save myself, I will not even know where to start. Help me to see the seriousness of sin and treat it that way. Help me to be self aware about my life. Amen.
