Verse for Today:
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. – Gal 5:19-21
Ever watched a scary movie? The women is walking down this corridor and all of a sudden this omnious beast appears out of nowhere and starts to chase her down the corridor. By now your heart is racing and you are sitting with your head below the blankie. Or funny enough two of my friend when they are watching a scary movies; one closes her eyes and the other one closes her ears in the scary scenes. It is true sometimes the sound is scarier than the situation. We watched hound of dracula at the high scholl when we were young and all the way home on my brothers carier I was scouting the scies for bats that was following us. We never got home so fast from school ever.
Now reading this verse is like watching a scary movie. It is like the picture I added a person taking off his mask and revealing the real person. These are the things we see on the news all the time and are ignore in our lives every day. If someone were to give you the best drink they have ever drunk, but they tell you there is poison in it. Would you drink it? No of course not, but in our own lives we swollow these sins hook, line and sinker. It is like someone said God made all the top 10 fun stuff sin and is trying to spoil our fun.
Getting drunk might be fun, but when you are standing at a funeral with regret on killing your friends in a car crash when you were drunk hits home only after the fact. Then the fun in retrospect was foolishness. So God does not want to spoil our fun; He wants us to enjoy life responsibly. If one of your friends rock up at a party with a lot of drinks, you would think he is really cool. That is what Jesus did at a party, he made 750 bottles of wine; turning the water into wine.
I am not going to spoil your fun in doing the research for you one what each of these sins means. If you really care about your life and the people around you, you would study out this thoroughly. If is like going on a hike and study out all the possible dangers you can face. Then prepping and kitting yourself up to face the facts.
I have studied out these sins thouroughly. The best way to do it is to use a dictionary and first get the meaning of the word. Second you can write how you can commit this sin. Thirdly you can write how you can avoid from doing this sin. Lastly you can ask your spiritual leader, what he has seen in your life and that you can work on. One of my friends suggested that you start studying out lazyness for a year in the Bible; very convicting.
So Steven Covey in his book “Seven habits of highly effective people” has one habit stating “You start with the end in mind”. The Bible say that if you live like this you will not go to heaven. Do you live with the end in mind?
Prayer:
Lord this is heavy. To see myself in the mirror and see the reeal me. Please give me the courage to face myself and make drastic changes if need be. Lord I know some people would not want to be my friends after this but I can make new and better friends. I know you will bless my decision to be righteous. Amen.
