Pure Power
The key to finding God’s power is to be humble
It does not eliminate the temptation
Two jobs in life, to humble myself & God will lift me up. I take over His job. God is very polite He takes over my job.
When i fail in humility God turns me over to my sin.
1. Boundaries bring freedom
In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:3, 4 NIV)
I am able to overcome sin.
I want to do things my way. Pride.
Limits on the enjoyment in life.
My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight, that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge. For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it. Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say. Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house, lest you lose your honor to others and your dignity to one who is cruel, lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich the house of another. (Proverbs 5:1-10 NIV)
Stay long way away from temptation
My sinful nature will crave things when i am tired and alone
Set a boundary not to be alone or watch tv late.
When i don’t feel like having boundaries my pride starts to take over
Secrecy and opportunity are the ways to get sinful
Growing when ur cutting things out due to that you have to but want to
I don’t even want these things in my life or be exposed with
2. Strength through openness – Seek the light
I work at this discipline
If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:6, 7 NIV)
Be vulnerable and open – That is fellowship with one another
Openness is mortar that brings us closer together
God brought the peace but it meant to be open by making a phone call
Get a buddy to confess your temptation. It is like brushing teeth, personal hygiene
God made us emotional, to learn to talk about it.
Get my feelings hurt, then you beat yourself up about it.
My perspective needs to change, hurt, be honest and open about it
Not talk about it, then i am dishonest
We look for relational comfort in sexual sin
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 NIV)
Learn the principle to be honest about myself. Hardest thing to be humble in this way. There is strength in that. Be consistent about that.
I am not going back to that life.
3. Daily training
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:9-11 NIV)
Hide the word in my heart. Take on the very meaning on in my life. Act it out to help me think about it.
Setting captives free website. 10 minutes a day to help me to train.
A little bit everyday
4. Suffering transforms
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:7-11 NIV)
Suffering is a great thing for you. You must be on your way of greatness if you suffer that much. It is like training with weights. Embrace suffering with the right attitude. Head towards the drama.
We rather run to sexual sin than to deal with suffering.
