18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
1 Corinthians 6:18 | NIV
3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 | NIV
Sanctified (past tense) definition
-
Set apart as or declare holy; consecrate.
-
Make legitimate or binding by a religious ceremony.
-
Free from sin; purify.
The generic meaning of sanctification is “the state of proper functioning.” To sanctify someone or something is to set that person or thing apart for the use intended by its designer. A pen is “sanctified” when used to write. Eyeglasses are “sanctified” when used to improve sight. In the theological sense, things are sanctified when they are used for the purpose God intends. A human being is sanctified, therefore, when he or she lives according to God’s design and purpose.
Sanctification (living according to God’s plan) in marriage then is a healthy sexual relationship; initiated by both parties. We need to recognize it as a healthy, God created need that we have; to procreate and enjoy each others company and create intimacy. When we do not have a healthy sexual relationship, one or both partners suffer with sin.
What causes unhealthy sexual relationships?
-
Low libido on one or more of the partners.
-
A lack of understanding from one or more of the partners of the importance or a healthy sexual intimacy.
-
Our business in life neglecting intimacy.
-
Lack of leadership from the husband initiating a romantic dating life after getting married. A wife also initiating.
-

-
Understanding a healthy intimacy relationship (The marriage bed kept pure) helps us go to heaven. An unhealthy intimacy relationship leads to divorce, murder, break in trust, sin like adultery, lust, sexual immorality & masturbation.

Sexual immorality definition
From the Greek por·neiʹa, a general term for all unlawful sexual intercourse. It includes adultery, prostitution, sexual relations between unmarried individuals, homosexuality, and bestiality.
This word is also translated as “whoredom,” “fornication,” and “idolatry.” It means “a surrendering of sexual purity”, and it is primarily used of premarital sexual relations. From this Greek word we get the English word pornography, stemming from the concept of “selling off.” Sexual immorality is the “selling off” of sexual purity and involves any type of sexual expression outside the boundaries of a biblically defined marriage relationship
13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 | NIV
Having temptation and then sinning is no excuse. Temptation is common and we all have them pretty much the same. God always provide a way out, the question is; are we looking for the way out or use the temptation as an excuse to fall into sin.
4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Hebrews 13:4 | NIV
God wants even the marriage bed to be kept pure. Judgement for the adulterer & sexually immoral.

8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while— 9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.
2 Corinthians 7:8-11 | NIV
-
Have you ever had a burglar in your house? All of a sudden you hear something in the house and you are awake (earnestness). You realize it is a burglar and just need to get this guy out of your house and your family safe (eagerness to clear yourself). You come around the corner and see you TV is gone and are pretty ticked off (indignation). Sitting quietly around the corner you hear footsteps and low and behold there is 3 guys in your house (alarm). How you wish you had that alarm installed last week (longing). Now you see them coming down the hall towards your kids bedrooms (concern). You quickly slip into your study, open the safe and get your guns (readyness to see justice done).
-
Godly sorrow produces things in you not worldly sorrow. So if I feel sorry but do not change it is worldly sorrow.
-
So how will you know that you have Godly sorrow? Earnestness, eagerness clearing yourself, indignation, alarm, longing, concern, readiness to see justice done.
