Can you remember the olden days when you still went and watched movies at the school.
Me and my friend the one time went to our highschool to watch the thriller “Terror Train“, whoooooiiii.
Can you feel the suspense already !!!
There was this masquerade ball on a train, but there was a psychopathic murderer on the train as well. So what happens is every time somebody gets murdered the murderer put on that guys costume. The conducter is the guy who finds these murdered people and when he want to call someone to have a look, the body vanishes.
We were so scared me and my friend left!
Wicked is nowadays depicted as being cool, which is a total misrepresentation of the word.
Let’s look at what wicked means: Evil in principle or practice; deviating from morality; contrary to the moral or divine law; addicted to vice or sin; sinful; immoral; profligate; to the place of evil, hell, cursed; baneful; hurtful; bad; pernicious; dangerous. Does not sound like a happy place!!!
Let’s see what God depicts as wicked, the bad one.
Verse for Today:
19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. – Gal 5:19-21
In most movies you see people sleeping around as the cool in thing to do; when they guys say that was wicked it really was in God’s eyes. So it might not be that far off when people use that word. The movie that comes to mind is “Wedding Crashers” with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. Owen and Vince crash big parties to hook up with women, play the emotional card and then sleep with them. We would say that they are having a good time but God sees that as sexual immorality. The end result of that is in v21, if we live like this we will not inherit the kingdom of God. In short we will not go to heaven. But you will say; everybody does it! Still not everybody is going to heaven.
I can remember at school I went to a party that was a big booze one. We played coins and really got drunk, which is the fun thing to do at school. But God says that drunkeness is a sin!!! Well if you look at what drunkeness leads to, sleeping around, doing stupid stuff like driving at high speeds skipping traffic lights. Yes, then you understand why drunkeness is a sin.
The short and the long of it is, sin seperates us from God as we’ve seen in the previous study.
The question is; do you want to be seperated from God?
Clearly according to this verse; if these sins is our lifestyle we will not go to heaven.
If you do want to go to heaven and spend eternity with God you will have to make some life changes.
Prayer for Today:
Wow; this is really scary God, not just the movies but these sin you are listing. I never knew about these sin untill someone shown them to me! Help to get some faith and have some conviction about these sins to stop doing them. Amen.
