2.3. Understanding – 3 of 9 – The Words of God

Understanding God’s why?

Verse for today:

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. – 2Pet 1:20-21

Our family always used to go to the sea on holiday once a year. My dad being an engineer like to fix things himself. The car was normally the priority. My dad will take out the gearbox and replace the sync rings. Watching him work on the car help me even today to understand how to fix my own cars.

We all want to learn more and better ourselves. I did not tell my dad how to fix the car because he knows the inside workings of the car. The same with God; He created and knows the way for us to restore our relationship with Him and to go to heaven. I can be mr. fixit and try my own way, but will that work? Maybe with your car, but not with God.

So when Moses, David and Paul wrote the Bible they were inspired by God and wrote down what He said.

If I change it to what I want, you in essence become God in your own way.

So is interpreting (change it to what I want) right? Nooo!! You’ll be a fool who believes your own fairy tales.

The one time studying the bible I wanted to really understand what the kingdom of God / heaven was; if there is a difference. I wrote down all the verses about the kingdom I could find in the concordance. Then I looked for things that is similar and a sort of pattern that that emerges. After that study I really understood how God sees the kingdom. We will cover that later.

So in closing, if you really want to understand God and His kingdom, you need to study things out to get to know what God thinks.

God help me to understand You. Open my mind to understand what you want from me. Help me to obey; because that is love for you. Amen.
