3.7. Go!!! – 7 of 7 – What is my Purpose and Destiny?

Verse for Today:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Mat 28:18-20

What will you say on your last words before you leave the earth?

“I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have.” – Leonardo da Vinci

Or

One never knows the ending. One has to die to know exactly what happens after death, although Catholics have their hopes.” – Alfred Hitchcock

Or

Jesus commanding us to go and make disciples?

Growing up religiously I was your normal “christian”. Go to church twice on Sundays, sing in the choir and attend a Bible Study during the week. The first time someone called me to be a disciple I was sad, because none of my preachers called me to do so. It just showed me the the sad state of religion in the world.

Jesus Commands us to make disciples (given to all). Going back to our first section of this study you will remember that we did a conparison between the worlds view of a “christian” and a disciple.

We said Christian = Disciple = Saved.

As a religious person I never before someone helped me to become a disciple; went and made disciples.

Jesus made his followers disciples that radically changed the world.

Was Jesus serious when He said that we should make disciple’s? That is like asking did Jesus really say we have to love like He did people?

So if you call yourself a Christian; are you radically changing the world around you?

Let’s take a 5 year span. How many disciple’s did you make?

Ok maybe you haven’t been successful, who have you studied the Bible with in the last 6 months to help them closer to God? Surely you can get one if you made every effort!

Would you like to change the world for a better one eternally?

Who is a candidate for baptism? A person who makes the decision to be a disciple.

You need someone to disciple you to maturity in Christ. When is the last time you sat with someone and talked about your life?

This is the only way to save the world!

Comparison between a preacher and a disciple numerically:

Year  – Preacher – Disciple

1 – Preachers makes 365 followers – One disciple makes one disciple

2 – Preacher makes another 365 followers now they are 730 – Two disciples makes two disciples, now they are 4

3 – 1,095 – 8

13 – 4,745 – 8,192 – The disciples overtake the followers

33 – 12,045 – The world, 10 billion plus

So if you understand exponential maths you can see God has the better plan.

Practicals:

  1. Find someone who makes disciples.
  2. Study out what it means and become a disciple.
  3. Study out baptism and what it means, then get baptised.
  4. Find someone who will teach you to obey everything God commanded.

Prayer for today:

Jesus I really want to become a disciple and follow you. Help me to find the right person to help me become a disciple.

Amen
